SBC descriptor “Great Commission Baptists” approved

Southern Baptist messengers approved the proposed descriptor “Great Commission Baptists” in a ballot vote June 19. Results were announced at the opening of the June 20 annual meeting session.

While 7,831 messengers are registered, only 4,824 messengers voted on the descriptor proposal. Out of those votes, 2,546 votes (52.78 percent) were in favor of the descriptor and 2,232 (46.27 percent) were opposed. Forty-six votes were disallowed.

    Very much appreciative of delegates that took time to vote, either way, but, am disappointed in fact that such a small number voted.
