TOUGH CLIMB (IMB) — Cyclists pedal along Box Hill during the July 28 men’s road cycling race at the 2012 Summer Olympics. The riders had to make nine circuits up and around the steep mountains of Box Hill. Alexander Vinokourov of Kazakhstan won the gold medal, Rigoberto Uran of Colombia took the silver and Alexander Kristoff of Norway got the bronze.

SHOW OF SUPPORT (IMB) — People line the streets of Dorking High Street in Surrey County tocheer the men’s Olympic cycling field. Hundreds of thousands of British cycling fans lined the roads along the 155-mile route through London and the surrounding countryside on Saturday, cheering local favorite Mark Cavendish, who recently won the Tour de France and was a heavy favorite to win gold in the Olympics but failed to place for any medal.
