Walker Baptist church vandalized; suspects arrested

Two Walker County churches — one of them a Baptist church — were vandalized on the night of Dec. 17.

The vandals broke into Antioch Baptist Church, Jasper, and did damage to the fellowship hall and some of the Sunday School classrooms. They did not steal anything of great value and did not harm the sanctuary, reported the Walker Baptist Association office.

However, Jasper Alliance Church took a harder hit. The vandals set a fire in the church that damaged its facilities. They also stole certain things that are not being identified publicly.

The Daily Mountain Eagle reported that two individuals have been taken into custody as suspects for both incidents. Police have not yet revealed the names of the suspects.
