Former Homewood minister Shahan released on bond

BIRMINGHAM (TAB) — According to, Richard Shahan was released on bond the evening of Jan. 17. He was released on a $100,000 bond and required to be under house arrest at his mother’s home in Homewood, as the judge ordered. Shahan also is wearing an electronic monitoring device. He has been charged with the murder of his wife, Karen Shahan, in July 2013. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 5.
