KANO, Nigeria (TAB, MS) — The death toll from a suicide bombing in a Christian area of northern Nigeria’s city of Kano is higher than initially reported, according to Christian sources in the area.
One local pastor said about 20 Christians died in the bomb blast the evening of May 18, adding that police are reporting five died.
Eyewitnesses said the bomber in the vehicle had sought directions to some of the local churches from area Christians but detonated the bomb when the Christians became suspicious of his intentions.
The explosion occurred at the junction of Middle and Gold Coast roads.
