Church members remember 4 girls killed in Sixteenth Street Baptist bombing

BIRMINGHAM (TAB, al.com) — Church members gathered at 10:22 a.m. to remember the four girls killed in the bombing 51 years ago at Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, Birmingham. Addie Mae Collins, Carole Robertson, Denise McNair and Cynthia Wesley were killed Sept. 15, 1963. Church members tolled the church bell once for each of the four girls, and once each for Johnny Robinson and Virgil Ware, who also were killed in the racial violence that day. According to al.com, Pastor Arthur Price Jr. shared a message from Joshua 4. “It’s time for us to remember, because forgetfulness is the enemy of faith,” Price said.
