Florida Baptist church votes ‘no’ to medical marijuana

LAKE WALES, Fla. (ABP, TAB) — A Southern Baptist church in central Florida recently rejected an offer to lease a vacant parcel of land. Sounds insignificant enough. But not for a medical marijuana facility that wanted to use the land. Bethel Baptist Church, Lake Wales, Fla., voted 5–3 in late August to reject an offer to lease the 3.2-acre parcel to GrowHealthy, a company poised to become one of America’s largest chains of medical marijuana nursery farms.
