Bolivian pastor narrowly escapes assassination attempt

COCHABAMBA, Bolivia (MSN, TAB) — A 35-year-old Baptist pastor narrowly survived an assassination attempt Oct. 21 in Bolivia. Marcelo Nieva, pastor of Pueblo Grande Baptist Church, suspects that the attempt was because of his involvement in helping a single mother in a custody dispute. Sources say the attempt on Nieva’s life reinforce suspicions of a largely corrupt force of police officers, politicians and criminal gangs in Rio Tercero.
