15 Christians slain in two attacks by Muslim gunmen in Nigeria

FADAN KARSHI, Nigeria (MSN, TAB) — Muslim Fulani herdsman killed 15 Christians, including an infant boy, in two separate attacks in two Nigerian states Dec. 17. Ten Christians were killed when more than 100 herdsman invaded Sabon Gida Shagogo village in Taraba state and burned church buildings and houses. That same day, five Christians were killed and 15 houses were destroyed by Fulani herdsman in Angwan Dauda village in Kaduna state in retaliation for the shooting death of a herdsman for attacking a Christian farmer. A 1-year-old boy and his mother were among those killed in the second attack. These 15 deaths are in addition to the more than 1,500 Christians who have died in similar attacks in 2014, according to Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency. Nigerian church leaders say the mounting attacks constitute a war “by Islam to eliminate Christianity” in the country.
