BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (TAB) — Today’s “security threat” is just a small taste of what “our brothers and sisters in Christ experience in other countries,” said David Platt, president of the International Mission Board, as he opened tonight’s Secret Church event in Birmingham.
Platt was referencing the 10:30 a.m. phone call that resulted in The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, being evacuated and the location of tonight’s “Christ, Culture and A Call to Action” simulcast being moved to another site just hours before it began.
No matter what threats are made, they can’t stop the word of God nor can they stop the church that teaches the word of God, Platt said. All attempts to stop the church will help spread the gospel more, he noted.
Secret Church spokesperson Angela Stewart was unable to comment on the nature or source of the threat because the investigation is ongoing.
