Baptist church vandalized on Thanksgiving Day

BIRMINGHAM (TAB) — A Baptist church was among the two locations in Moody that were vandalized with spray paint in the early morning hours on Thanksgiving Day.

Vandals spray painted “Whos God?!” (sic) on the front doors of First Baptist Church, Moody, as well as leaving their mark on O’Reilly Auto Parts store.

First, Moody, Pastor Brad Moseley isn’t mad about the vandalism, however. In a Facebook post he said, “For the one who spray painted the front doors … thank you. Not for spray painting our door, but for giving me the opportunity to answer your question ‘Who’s God.’”

Moseley went on to share about Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross.

Moody police believe the vandalism is the work of one or more teenagers. Police Chief Thomas Hunt said that such an act is sometimes a joke to teens, but is not to him.

“Coming to a church and [putting] graffiti on it … is just not right and it won’t be tolerated,” Hunt told local media.

No suspects have been named at this time. Police are asking that anyone with information on the vandalism call 205-640-5121 or 205-640-3333.
