BIRMINGHAM (TAB) — Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) efforts in the Dothan area are underway after a heavy storm last night and assessments are being conducted, according to Mel Johnson, DR strategist for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
The power company restricted access into a neighborhood with about 14 homes that have sustained damage, but DR volunteers are on standby to assist in the area once permission is granted.
Johnson also reported that a tree fell on the house of Ray Jones, pastor of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Dothan. In the Dothan area overall, however, damage seems to be limited.
“Please remember (in prayer) those involved with ministry for their communities in the wake of last night’s severe weather,” Johnson said.
