BESSEMER (TAB) — Grace Life Baptist Church, Bessemer, has suffered tornado damage following the storms that moved through west and central Alabama during the early evening hours.

There were no injuries but the church has suffered roof damage and the steeple was toppled over. A few windows also were blown out but initial reports indicate there is no major damage on the inside. Church staff said they do plan to have services as normal on Sunday.

The McCalla area also suffered damage but reports are still coming in so the extent of damage was not known at press time.

Mel Johnson, disaster relief strategist for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, is working to see if any Alabama Baptist disaster relief teams will need to be deployed.
