REMLAP, Ala. (TAB) — After hours of work, firefighters have put out the fire at Valley Grove Baptist Church, Remlap. Crews were called around 5 a.m. to the blaze, which seems to have begun in the 111-year-old sanctuary.
Pastor Jeff Logan believes the building is a total loss, according to multiple news sources, but thankfully the Blount Baptist Association church was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
“We lost a building but I do know the church itself, we’ve got a strong body, a strong congregation. We’ll bounce back. The Lord’ll help us through this,” Logan said.
Logan reported that various churches have volunteered spaces for worship while the church plans its next steps. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
“The Lord will build us back stronger,” Logan said. “We look to the Lord. … We may have lost a building, but we haven’t lost the church.”
The Alabama Baptist will provide updates as they are available.

Valley Grove was one of the most Beautiful Churches in Blount County, Went to V.G. a lot of years, This church stole my heart when I was just 16 years old. I always went there after every snow and in the fall , to take pictures, beautiful mountains, creek running across the front of the church, old working well pump. It was one of a kind, and I am so home sick with out my church. I know we will rebuild, but I know it want be the same, but we will carry on the lords work .
